Finally it’s your turn to tie the knot. You’ve met the man of your dreams, passed the in-law bonding session and planned your wedding day. Now it’s about you, finally. Time to shop for the perfect dress and shoes. When it comes to shoes, it’s important that you will be happy and comfortable in them for the whole wedding day. Let’s explore some options and tricks to make it as pleasant as possible.

Beach wedding flats

If you have decided to tie the knot with the waves crashing nearby or with sand between your toes, then heels are out of the question. It would be impractical to wear stilettoes and dig your way through the sand looking ever so clumsy. Opt for a lovely pair for flat sandals, diamante in silver to match your wedding dress or gold to blend in with the sand. Choose something flattering that will look good with your dress. If you are concerned about being vertically challenged, have a pair of heels you can switch into for photos later.

Dancing number

Peep toes are a classic way to show off your pedicure without compromising on comfort. A great option that can give you the right amount of grip around your feet, yet allowing you room to feel stylish and feminine. Make a wise choice when it comes to the heel height. Although you may manage to last longer in a plat-form version, it is important you break into your shoes well ahead of time. You could add heel guards and foot cushions to make it more comfortable and dance the night away.

Strappy and high

Extremely high heels and supper thin straps look very beautiful, but be warned they are the most painful. If you have no intention of dancing till you drop, go ahead, or have a pair of flats to switch into when your feet hurt.  Another option would be to take regular breaks off your feet. Making the most of your lovely shoe is what every bride wants. Look to ease the straps by stretching them out a bit. This will definitely help and keep your feet from nasty cuts.

Sneaker for the comfort seeker

Some value comfort over style, but it doesn’t necessarily mean there is a lack of style in wearing funky sneakers. Lots of dances and sports fanatics’ get married in sneakers. You can choose to bring it up or keep it down right simple. Regardless of what kind you wish to dash away in, you will be looking chic and comfortable.

Organizing your first show is exciting. Now that you have finally come to the end of your gruelling work load, it’s time to put the research, mind mapping, design approval, fabric hunting and production into actual display. To be gazed upon, judged, criticised and celebrated. But as you might have guessed it’s no easy feat. So let us give you a few tips, to help propel the parade smoothly along.

Design and perfect

This is your first foot in the lime light. The media, the real critiques and future clients will be present. So putting together a grand collection that will represent your style well is key. By now you would have the designs and fabrications all ready. Now, the workmanship is going to count. A well-made garment will speak for itself. If construction is poor it won’t matter how fabulous your designs can be. Originality matters, imitations will be quickly identified and brushed off with disapproving sweeps. Make sure it all comes together in breath-taking splendour.

Fitting the form

Finding the right individual to fit your garments is important. Find someone who will be comfortable to wear your design. Someone who understands and can bring the right attitude to the show. Wrong person is as good as parading your garment on a hanger. Look for committed models. Reaching out to an agent is one option, but if you do not have the budget for it steer clear. Student models will do. You may approach them with a mutual benefit scheme. They get the exposure, while you get your show. Fit the selected model and make necessary adjustments to the outfits. Well fit garments sit well on the individual, looks smart and feels good for the wearer.

 Music and the runway

Choose music to suit your collection and theme. Rehearsals is important. It will give you, the models and the sound engineer the right sense of time. Each ramp is different to the other. Make sure you have timed the music and cued correctly for a perfect show. Lighting and the flooring should be checked. Select wisely the kind of lighting to make the best of your event.

The oops moments

Prepare for slippery ramps well ahead to avoid accidents. Make sure the shoes to be worn are well broken into. Do not wear brand new shoes on the day of the show. Let the ladies take some time practicing in them and adding gel cushions if need be to make them more comfortable. Adhere traction tape to the soles of the shoes, this will help prevent unwanted slips and injuries. Have some emergency double tape, needle and thread for any unexpected rips and tears.

The grand entrance

Finally it’s your turn to take a bow. Walk in with your Avant-garde piece and make a statement. As the height of your creativity for the night walks in with you, enjoy the applause, breath slowly and smile.

Whether you are a house wife, the CEO of a fashion magazine or a grandmother living in the country side, you matter. Your outfits matter and so does your image. You may dress to impress your loved ones, your colleagues or simple yourself. But in the end, looking smart, pretty and well poised is what every woman wants. Assembling an outfit, depending on mood can be easy or difficult. But certain situations call for you to look well put together regardless of your emotional state. That’s where a few signature must haves come in handy, drawing away the blues, revealing a lively ‘you’.

The perfect stride

How a woman carries herself shows what she is made of. Nothing more unattractive than unsteady feet in a cobbling pair of shoes. Pinching fabrics, ill-fitting pumps and squashing peep toes are a ‘no-no’. A range of choices exist today. Shoes that are built for comfort without compromising on style. Choose a pair that will work with both casual and smart looks.

The time keeper

As women we understand the importance of time. Be it getting the kids ready for school or attending meeting without being ‘fashionably late’. Meeting deadlines or pulling the chicken out the oven at the right time, we have it covered. Almost, as if a clock has been embedded in our system. This only means that we should in fact own a classic timepiece to flaunt with confidence. No longer is a ‘complicated, watch a man’s possession. Women have equally demanding roles and need equally technical watches. The more intriguing the woman is the more mechanically advanced the watch will be.

The sparkle

Regardless of what walk you may be from, everyone like a little glitter and sparkle. Bold, large, dangling or petite, flowery and conservative it doesn’t matter. The earring adorns the face of the wearer and accentuates the little feminine jawline of the woman. Heirloom or not keep a pair that’s makes you feel special every time you put it on.

The girlfriend

Being a woman means you almost have something more than keys, phone and wallet to carry. Having a good bag is like a good girlfriend. Always around, carries your most private of things and if you are nice never spills the beans. Invest in a good cross body that can double up as a clutch. This can work from day to night and help you keep your personals safe and always around.

The deal sealer

A long lasting, reliable, timeless ballpoint pen. High quality and engraved with your initials or a personal phrase. Yes it’s for every woman. Be it you’re signing cheques or approving work, you need one. CEO to house wife your signature is unique and only yours. And what better way to put down your stamp in signature style.

The joining of two families, two individuals in a binding contract of ‘together till death do us apart’ is in itself a timeless event. From the time marriage and weddings were first conceptualized, to this day it remains a precious moment. Bridges built across races, tribes and tongues in a union of love and commitment. Such an occasion deserves to be cherished forever. Looking back on the special day should be pleasing to the eyes, ten, thirty even fifty years later. Now that you have chosen well for your partner, let us help you make some timeless choices that will transcend time and trend.

Foundation

Everyone has a ‘ground’ to start work on. The way you will build, will depend on it. Draw from your own traditions and values for your special day. This is a very personal space to start with, and it’s uniquely yours. Something as personal as this, will always remain relevant and in style in the years to come.

Inspiration

The theme that you will select should speak to you today and whisper to you tomorrow. (Following the latest trend of today can be exciting, but looking back one might cringe.) Timeless Romantic vibes is one option that you can work with. A fairy tale approach of soft ruffles, tulle, flowers and curls. Not only do they create a dream like vision, but they fit into any given time frame. Day or evening, today or tomorrow, you will not regret.

Colour palette

Soft hews of egg shell, whites and pinks never go out of style. It’s no bold option, but it’s charming in its simple ways. The dress, bridesmaids, best man, groom and the overall colour theme should blend in well without overpowering the bride. These shades look good on almost everyone. What’s not to love?

Decorations

A choice of wooden furniture, white linen, and plenty of floral arrangements will do. Roses in white and soft pink, peonies in pale shades or lilies. Flowers are a timeless commodity and a must for every wedding. The fragrance itself adds to the beauty of the setting. Gold and glass can be incorporated to give it just the right amount of a ‘royal touch’. Centre pieces can be simple with a bunch of flowers, or can be tall stately. Well balance deco means it will be easy on the eyes.

Cake

The cake takes centre stage right after the couple. A classic white cake with three tiers is our personal favourite. You may wish to go for a taller option or a smaller one, which would either draw a lot of attention or won’t keep it for long. White, gold, pearl designs, petals, ruffles and splashes of pastels give you plenty of options to choose from. Most go for a classic vanilla sponge, but we say go for chocolate. Rich chocolate cake covered in white Icing. It will be the surprise. Just like your love story, your cake will be picture perfect and full of exciting surprises.
